WAR OF THE WEASELS

WISCONSIN/MICHIGAN CHAMPION CUP SERIES

Image 2.jpeg

OVERVIEW

- WAR OF THE WEASELS was developed by shooters in Wisconsin and Michigan to promote interstate and interclub shooting within PRS Rimfire while enjoying the comradery found in both states. Double-header matches were developed to maximize a shooter’s ability to cover two matches in one weekend.

- An even amount of team members from Wisconsin and Michigan compete in a yearly “Ryder Cup” style head-to-head finale match at the end of the season for a traveling cup. The cup resides at the winning team’s club of choice.

- The Cup Finale match will alternate yearly between WI and MI. The club (match location) will be voted on by that team’s members, at the start of the season.

- Cost to join a team is $25 per shooter. A season “War of the Weasels” t-shirt and operating costs are included.

TEAM SELECTION & REQUISITE

- WI/MI team members do not need to be from that state but will choose to shoot for that state at the start of the season (or to fill in a roster for even teams for end of season finale match).

- Team members must shoot a minimum of (2) matches in WI and (2) matches in MI between January 1 of that season to the date of the Cup Series Finale. Shooter’s score for a particular match will be based on PRS regular season scores for that match.

- Shooters may shoot as many WI/MI matches as they choose with the best scores being used to determine team rank. The combination of the (2) best scores in MI plus the (2) best scores in WI will be used to determine that shooter’s team rank.

- Any PRS Rimfire matches in WI and MI qualify, but only (1) match per club will count toward the team ranking score.

FINALE FORMAT & SCORING

- The finale will have similar ranked WI and MI shooter teamed on the same squad.

- To win the WAR OF THE WEASELS, a team must collect the majority of the available points. e.g. if there are 6 shooters for MI and 6 shooters for WI, there are 6 total points available for the match. To win outright, a team must collect 3 1/2 points. In the event of a tie (3 to 3 in the above example) the winning team from the previous year’s WAR OF THE WEASELS retains the cup.

- For the 1st year (since there was not a previous year’s winner), a tie of team points will be decided by adding the entire team’s tie breaker time remaining. The highest total team time remaining (or lowest overall time elapsed) will determine the cup winner.

- Each paired shooter match is head-to-head competition.

- The paired shooters will compete on each stage head-to-head. The paired shooter with the higher score on a stage will win 1 stage point. Ties on a stage will score no stage points for either shooter (including tie breaker stages).

- The most stage points at the end of each paired shooters match will win (1) team point for their team. A tie at the end of the match will score ½ team point each.

- The Cup will reside at the club of the winning team’s choosing until the next Cup finale.
